Preparing for a Sauna Treatment
We do not allow any food or drink except water inside of the sauna. Patients must remove at least shoes before entering. Showering before your Infrared Sauna session may cause you to sweat more heavily. Try sauna with & without bathing or showering to see which you prefer. Have 2-3 towels available to you during your session. Please bring one to sit on or for extra cushioning, a second & third to wear or to absorb excess sweat. Clients may wear anything from just a bathing suit, to shorts and t-shirts in the sauna. You may wear whatever attire you are comfortable in.
After your Session
Drink liquids prior to, during, and after your sauna session. Water works just fine. Eating right after a treatment is important in replacing the minerals and nutrients lost through perspiration: a piece of fruit for potassium and dark green leafy vegetables for magnesium. Salt and Phosphorous lost in your sweat are easily replaced by the typical American diet and so do not require additional supplementation.
Maximizing Benefit
At the first sign of a cold or flu, increasing the frequency of your sauna treatments may be beneficial in boosting your immune system and decreasing the replication rate of the virus. Consult your doctor regarding the proper treatment for this or any other medical condition. As you become more conditioned to the heat, you may want to increase the length of your sauna visits.
